How the tables have turned! It appears I am the young cub of this lion pride. Though since im 28 yr old going on 45 yrs old I do not really bring an infusion of youth.
My name is Jay. You could say I reside in Los Angeles, CA but am lately not stationary to any place for more than a month as I live a nomadic lifestyle with no more than 4 hrs sleep each day. This has earned me my favorite moniker of all my nicknames: Mr. Pure Energy.
If only I was a model I could claim to relate to all of you haha. I was approached one time by an agency but laughed it off as a compliment.
Had a military/law enforcement background that was brief starting in 06' while working in the associate scouting position for the KC Royals (basically part-time)..later working for the Nats on my way to future expectations bearing down on me from my older colleagues (about 4-5 young guys but most scouts are 40 yrs +)
Got my "in" into the industry thanks to (then dodgers manager Dan Evans) who was my neighbor while playing baseball at an All-State level in high school that garnered a full baseball scholarship. turned down a generous bonus from the (then) devil rays.
Many first round talents end up drafted later because of negotiation breakdowns--sometimes even undrafted.
Have been playing fantasy sports since 2000 (14 yrs old) and partook one year in the distinguished experts showdown representing CBS SPORTS. With scouting, along with being an avid sports fan, and majoring for the 1 semester of college in mathematics it equaled a force to be reckoned with in my hayday.
Not going to speak on all my accolades in life so far...just wanted to relay the type of life I've had to segway into my later 20s.
One of the heavyweight organizations in the sports industry is the FCA. the Fellowship of Christian Athletes has grown incredibly to the forefront of the many organizations tied to the sports industry (NBA, NFL, MLB). Surprisingly...or not, the FCA has very little influence in the NHL.
Getting to know devout christians like Clayton Kershaw emboldened my faith in Christ. Have left many things to the past in order to love widows and orphans (servanthood) in Christ likeness. By saying this I may be misunderstood or placed in a certain perspective due to stereotypes especially since the demographics of NHL fans also (like the league) is more indifferent to the faith than the other major sports--still love you guys no matter what!
This year I have already faced persecution during my saudi Arabia trip, and will be sharing the good news of the true gospel in trips lined up to Peru, Mexico, etc. Surrendering most of my possessions to live out the biblical mandate of God.
I associate myself to being a minnesota wild fan but honestly I hardly even watch any sports any longer. Sold out for Christ and the advancement of his Kingdom even unto death.
